RUGIPO Elects New Students’ Union and SRC Executives for 2025/2026 Academic Session

The Independent Students’ Electoral Committee (ISEC) of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo (RUGIPO), has announced the results of the Students’ Union Executive Council (SUEC) and Students’ Representative Council (SRC) elections for the 2025/2026 academic session.

In a statement jointly signed by Jonathan Hope (Chairman), Christopher Oluwatobi (General Secretary), and Orefuja John (Public Relations Officer), the committee affirmed that the elections were conducted in accordance with its electoral guidelines, ensuring transparency, fairness, and active student participation across the institution.

In the Students’ Union Executive Council (SUEC) election, Onile Olaniyi emerged as President with 1,093 votes, defeating Ajama Desmond, who garnered 845 votes. Temitope Florence was elected Vice President, polling 1,117 votes ahead of Fatomilola Grace, who had 612 votes.

For the position of General Secretary, Fabiyi Emmanuel secured victory with 1,130 votes, defeating Olugbenga Samson (423 votes). Akinola Israel Opeyemi was elected Assistant General Secretary with 585 votes, while Afolabi Sunday emerged as Treasurer with 692 votes.

Other elected officers include Adegboye Adewale as Financial Secretary (580 votes), Amuseghan Isaac Gbenga as Social Director (502 votes), Felix Gbenga as Public Relations Officer (1,064 votes), Fasakin Bodunde as Sports Director (809 votes), and Ogunlade Emmanuel as Welfare Director (571 votes).

In the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) election, Divine Praise was elected Senate President with 51 votes, defeating Ebiyeseigha Emmanuel, who scored 13 votes. Akintunde Segun emerged as Deputy Senate President with 29 votes, while Akinola Solomon won the Chief Whip position with 36 votes.

Other winners include Olorunpo Olaposi as Clerk (56 votes), Oloruntoba Olaniyi as Deputy Clerk (47 votes), and Olalusi Oluwadamilare as Mace Bearer (43 votes), defeating Abubakar Abdulbasit, who secured 15 votes.

The ISEC congratulated all elected officers on their victory and commended the peaceful and orderly conduct of the elections. The committee urged the new leaders to uphold integrity, promote unity, and serve the collective interest of the student body throughout their tenure.
